Lunch and Learn: Cultural Capitals Study Abroad in Italy

Join us on Tuesday, January 21 at 11 AM in Pickell Hall to learn about a study abroad opportunity in Italy. Professor Rachel Foulk will talk about the trip that she will co-lead with Professor John Scott Gray in which students will learn about the art and culture of Italy in six of its great cities. The group will stay in Rome, Florence, and Padua, with day trips to Pompeii, Tivoli, and Venice. Each day, they will visit monuments, archaeological sites, churches, and world-class museums to experience masterpieces of Italian art in person. The philosophy portion of the program will ask questions about the religious and political contexts in which these masterpieces were created. Highlights of the trip will include the ancient Roman Colosseum, Michelangelo’s David, the ruins of Pompeii, some of Italy’s finest gardens, the Vatican & Sistine Chapel, and more.

We will serve pizza from Jet’s. It’s fine if you arrive a little late or leave a little early. If you require accommodations to attend, please contact us 231-591-2216.
