Lunch and Learn: “The Dark Triad: Psychopathy, Narcissism, and Machiavellianism. Three Ways to be a Terrible Human Being”

Join Dr. Felix Smith, associate professor of psychology at Ferris State University, on Thursday, February 25 at 11 AM on Zoom to learn about the dark triad: psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism.

Psychopathy, a person’s lack of moral conscience, emotional void, and inability respect the rights of others is a long known psychological concept that strongly predicts criminal and antisocial behavior. Recent research suggests that psychopathy may only be a third of the explanation. Psychologists have proposed two more traits, narcissism (high but fragile self-esteem), and Machiavellianism (scheming and planning). Together these three are being used as a “Dark Triad” to understand darker human behavior.
