Thursday, August 26 

MOVE IN DAY FOR PICKELL and PUTERBAUGH)

3 PM Peer mentor meeting

Pickell Lower Lobby

All peer mentors will meet in the Honors Lounge for peer mentor training. Peer mentors will also receive T-Shirts and important paperwork. 

3:45PM: Start moving to Williams Auditorium

Peer mentors will be ‘sweeping’ the halls to walk groups over to Williams

4PM to 5PM Welcome Convocation

Williams Auditorium – during the welcome convocation Peer mentors will introduce themselves to students and parents! Masks are required as it is an indoor event.

6PM to 6:30PM Peer Mentor Meet Up

Meet Column signing ‘tent’ in South Quad (near the actual rock in front of The Rock main entrance). Peer mentors will be waiting to meet you!

Rain location: history lounge outside of room 202 in the University Center.

6:45PM to 8PM Welcome Picnic and Social

Honors students meet for dinner and a social outdoors in South Quad. This is an opportunity to meet other students as well as program staff. Rain location: room 202 University Center

Friday, August 27

10AM to 2PM Honors Fun Day

Meet at the actual rock in front of The Rock.

A variety of outside activities with your mentors that will help you learn the layout of campus. Make sure to ask your peer mentor where to meet up for Fun Day

2PM to 4PM Academic Classroom Tours

Here is an opportunity to go on a guided tour to your classes to make sure you will be able to find your way on Monday. Recommended but not required

Saturday, August 28

10 AM to 1 PM Days of Service and Learning: Riverwalk Clean Up

In this optional service project, volunteers will clean up Riverwalk, a park with a paved trail along the Muskegon River within walking distance of campus. Meet at the sculpture near the upper parking lot at the University Center at 10 AM. Participants will walk down to the park together. You may want to bring a water bottle in a backpack if it’s a hot day. The Honors Program will have gloves and trash bags for the first 30 volunteers. Any other participants can get credit for the outing as an honors community/cultural event.

Sunday, August 29

1 PM to 3 PM Days of Service and Learning: Muskegon River Trash Bash

In this optional service project, volunteers will clean up a stretch of the Muskegon River near campus. Meet at the tables in front of the Rec Center at 1 PM. Wear shoes or boots that can get wet and that are not slippery since you’ll be walking down a steep stairway to get to the river. The Honors Program will have gloves and trash bags for the first 20 volunteers. Any other participants can get credit for the outing as an honors community/cultural event.
