Ferris State University is screening the Tribeca Film Festival 2016 selection “Night School” by Andrew Cohn on Thursday, February 9th at 7:00pm in the University Center 202C. There will be a screening of the film followed by a discussion on the topics covered. This film follows three non-traditional students as they pursue their high school diplomas and the challenges they face in doing so. Below is a description of “Night School.”
“Indianapolis has one of the lowest high school graduation rates in the country. For adult learners Greg, Melissa, and Shynika, finally earning their high school diplomas could be a life-changing achievement. Emmy award-winning director Andrew Cohn’s absorbing documentary observes their individual pursuits, fraught with challenges of daily life and the broader systemic roadblocks faced by many low income Americans.”
