A model designed by Alternative Breaks and used by volunteer centers around the world. the Active Citizen Continuum is a great way to understand the goal of service. In order to create Active Citizens we have to start with members, those people not concerned with social problems. From their we must help them realize the root problems and make the community a priority to students.

Once there, students can provide their community with informed, well-intentioned, and consistent volunteer help. The Volunteer Center at Ferris has also adopted this model. As honors students we should also strive to become Active Citizens in our communities and everywhere we go.
