The Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning will be hosting an event series entitled “Talk Back Tuesdays” as part of their yearlong theme, “Relationships.” During these events, students and faculty will participate in facilitated discussions dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion within the classroom.
As education scholar Maryellan Weimer (2002) w0uld attest, building connections between faculty and students can lead to more meaningful learning experiences. Dialogues have been recognized as a critical starting point for cultivating these experiences.
The first discussion will be held on Tuesday, January 19th from 12 to 12:50pm in the FLITE 135 entitled “From MLK to #BLM: Why Discussions on Race (Still) Matter.” A light lunch will be served during the discussion.
