An introduction to the social, political, and cultural issues and events that transformed the 1960s into one of the most turbulent decades in our nation’s history. Issues and events to be addressed include the idealism of the Kennedy Administration and the Civil Rights Movement; the social unrest surrounding Vietnam and the Anti-War Movement; the militancy of the Women’s Liberation Movement and Black Power; and the creative outpouring of Rock’n’Roll and Counter-culture. This course meets General Education Requirements: Cultural Enrichment, Race/Ethnicity/Gender.
